July 1, 2019, 6 a.m. UTC

The competition is over.

Rules

Next to the Code of Honor the following rules apply to the competition.

Eligibility

  • The Pose Estimation Challenge is open to everybody, including space experts, data-mining experts and citizen scientists.
  • No nationality restrictions apply for the submission of solution files.

Winner

  • The winner(s) will be granted access to a larger dataset of real images, and will be invited to collaborate with scientists from both ESA Advanced Concepts Team and Stanford Space Rendezvous Lab to submit the competition results to a peer-reviewed conference/journal.
  • The submissions are ranked based on their performance on the synthetic test set (best score on the leaderboard).
  • The final ranking and the winner is determined after the deadline, after all submissions will be re-evaluated on the entire test set (read more about partial evaluation during the challenge in the Submission section below).
  • In case of a tie, the earlier submission date wins.
  • The final decision on the winner is subject to whether the participants conformed to the rules as checked by ESA Advanced Concepts Team.

License

By submitting, the authors grant to the organizers a license to use the submission files for the purpose of verifying and publishing the challenge results.

Submission

  • Before the competition deadline, solutions, notebooks, code snippets may only be shared publicly. Private sharing between teams is thus not allowed.
  • The submission limit is three submissions within 24 hours per team.
  • The leaderboard during the competition uses only a part of the submission data: we calculate score on a subset of the test images. The complete submission data will only be evaluated after the competition ends to compute the final ranking.
  • After the deadline we request all competing teams to submit a short summary in pdf format describing their approach and algorithms. The summary should be sent by e-mail to the address act _AT_ esa.int

Teams

  • Every team must submit with only one account.
  • Merging teams is not allowed.
